Listen up, Umble Nation, because we've got something special for you. Our Umble Reserve series is where we get to show off some of the wildest, most delicious coffees we source from around the world. Think of it like a guest chef coming into the kitchen—it’s a limited-time thing, so when it's gone, it's gone.

This time, we’re featuring a light roast from Kenya that is a classic example of a Kenyan coffee. The key varietal is SL-28, which helps give this coffee a very specific 'Kenyan' taste. Expect a coffee that's fruit forward - think grapefruit, tangerine, lemon. If that's your vibe or you're curious, check out this coffee. Also, to boot, it's from the oldest coffee farm in Kenya, furthering the idea that this is a classic. If you try it, open up a spot in the back of your mind to remember it over time - this is the standard to compare Kenyan coffees to.

STORY BEHIND THE NAME

Ok, so, in Kenya, lions are sometimes called ghosts. In 1898-1899, when they were building a railway through there, 2 man-eating lions were dubbed 'The Ghost and The Darkness' because they seemed to appear out of nowhere, especially in the middle of the night. They terrorized the workers. Even though they didn't have radios back then, the workers throughout the camps yelled to communicate with each other the location of the lions...hence Ghost Radio...pretty cool, huh?

TASTING NOTES EXPLAINED...

Tasting notes come from the smell of the grounds (dry and wet) and the taste itself. See what you get out of this coffee.

We’re tasting Tangerine, Plum, Macadamia.

INSIDER TRICK: Taste your coffee just as it stops steaming - that's about the perfect temperature to really taste what the coffee has to offer!

We want this coffee to be your FUEL FOR THE STORIES WORTH TELLING. Give it a shot and tell us what you think!
