What You'll Need
-
Gooseneck Kettle
-
High Quality Water
-
Umble Coffee
-
AeroPress
-
AeroPress Filters
-
Cup
Step 1
Heat your water to 195–205°F (about 30 seconds off boil).
Step 2
Measure out 32 grams of coffee or use 3 flat standard coffee scoops / 2 tbsp scoop.
Step 3
Grind coffee. If using a Baratza Encore Grinder, place grind setting to 12.
Step 4
Put a filter in the Aeropress and set up the brewer as shown. We usually pull the plunger out until the outer part of the brewer is flush with the back of the plunger. (Trust us, this way is much easier and safer!)
Step 5
Pour the coffee in to the Aeropress and enjoy the wonderful smell while you wait on the water to be ready!!
Step 6
With your water temperature somewhere between 195-205 degrees. Start a timer and pour until about 1 inch from the top.
Step 7
Take the back side of your Aeropress scoop and stir the coffee a couple of times in the first minute to make sure all the grounds are in contact with the water.
Step 8
Bonus ninja trick: once done stirring, take your water and gently pour down the stirrer to clean it offso you don’t make a mess on the counter!
Step 9
Add water as needed up to the 2-minute mark, but make sure to leave room to put your filter without coffee squirting out the sides!
Step 10
Place filter securely in place.
Step 11
Gently flip over onto your favorite mug.
Step 12
Press the plunger down slowly from the 2:00–2:30 mark. Try to finish right as you hear the hiss at 2:30.
Step 13
BONUS Ninja Trick: Angle the Aeropress slightly and press gently to squeeze out the last golden drops of coffee. This helps prevent drips on the counter when you toss the puck into the trash.
Step 14
Remove the cap and push out the filter + grounds.
Step 15
Enjoy your fresh cup of Aeropress coffee!
